Errors

There a few common errors you may encounter while playing Princess Maker for Kakao. So far I have come across these:

At Launch

No Network:

If you get this error when you launch the app, the game is unable to connect to the internet and will not run. The app will then close itself. This typically occurs when you have a very weak signal on your phone network or wifi.


Poor Network:

This error occurs after the game launches, during startup. It translates as saying their is an unstable connection. Basically the app is able to connect to the internet, but not able to establish a solid connection with the Kakao network.

The only time I've encountered this is when I tried to run the game while using the wifi at work which filters and blocks most social networks and gaming servers.

Entering a Family Name

"You cannot create a name that has already been created."

It seems that the game will not let multiple players use the same family. This is pretty aggravating since there doesn't seem to be any multiplayer connectivity possible so I don't know why they put this limit in but they did. Just keep trying names until it goes through (or if you're like me, get frustrated after three or four tries and stick a number or symbol in there).

Launching the App the First Time: [Part 1] Sign In and Start Up; Choosing Your Job

Sign In and Start Up

When you first launch the Princess Maker for Kakao app, you will see this screen:

You need to check the box to Agree to the Terms of Service, then press the yellow [Log In to Kakao Account] button.

This will then take you to a page to sign in to your Kakao account. (If you don't have a Kakao account, follow the directions here.)

Sign in, then press Agree and Start on the next screen.

The app will play through its opening movie (see translations here), while it begins to download the game files.

After the movie, the app will continue to download files, with a running progress bar. This may take several minutes.

Unfortunately, after you get to 100%, it will then start downloading update patch files! -_- This can take a while. Maybe go grab a snack.

If the progress bar seems to freeze up on you, give it a minute. If it doesn't resume, fully close out the app and relaunch it. It should pick up where it left off.





Choosing Your Job

Once the files are finally downloaded, you'll pass a loading screen, then come to this screen:

According to the Korean wiki, your choice of job does not affect your salary or game play.

Once you navigate to the job you want, hit the green select button. A confirmation page will come up.

The left button is to change your mind.

The right button is to confirm your choice.

Time to pick your daughter's info!

How to Sign Up for a Kakao Account

Updated 4/9/2020 to reflect new Kakao sign up page.

Before you can play Princess Maker for Kakao, you need to sign up for a Kakao account, in order to use KakaoGame. As far as I can tell, it's similar to a Google account, in that it lets you log in for games, instant messaging, picture sharing, chat, music etc. If you're super curious, you can see the Wikipedia entry for Kakao here.

This is the first thing that trips people up, as (at least in my case), the app won't take you to a sign up page. It will only let you log in with an existing account, not create a new one.

In order to create an account, go to the Kakao sign up page here. You should see the following page:

Everything is in English, so just follow the steps like you would for creating any other type of account. Once it's complete (including verifying your e-mail address), you can finally log in on the Princess Maker app! ^_^
